Huron County OPP have launched a drug overdose awareness campaign.
The campaign is raising awareness of the “Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act,” which provides legal protections for people seeking held during an overdose, even if they have taken drugs or possess drugs.
Since 2016, Huron County OPP has responded to nearly 150 drug overdose calls with 14 of them resulting in a fatality.
Last week, police say they responded to three drug overdose calls.
In two of those instances, the quick actions of a friend and a responding officer to administer Naloxone helped save the person’s life.
Huron County OPP hope this latest campaign improves awareness and ultimately leads to a reduction in drug overdose deaths.
