The 2021 Port Elgin Pumpkinfest was staged over the weekend
Jim and Kelsey Bryson from Ormstown, Quebec won the Giant Pumpkin Contest with an entry that weighed 1,777.5 pounds.
Another Quebec entrant, Todd Kline, won the Heaviest Squash competition at 1.126 pounds
While the number of entries were down a bit, Marketing Coordinator Ann Marie Collins related Pumpkinfest was a major success on many levels.
Collins says the crowds were good and everyone understood the restrictions that were in place in the face of the pandemic.
She says the numbers for the live audience and for those who watched on YouTube were high.
The weekend weather, especially on Saturday, made a perfect environment for those wishing to get out and enjoy the annual event. Feedback to the organizers indicated the live aspect was vastly better than a ” virtual ” festival.
Collins believes that under normal circumstances the weekend would have attracted more than 30,000 people based on the weather conditions.
The complete list of winners are posted on the Pumpkinfest website at pumpkinfest.org
