The Muskoka and Area Ontario Health Team (MAOHT) is committed to health system co-design with community members on the Patient Family Caregiver Partners Advisory Committee (PFCPAC).
Engaging people regarding local health system needs and the development of a new way of coordinating health care is critical to the success in improving health system integration.
The MAOHT is pleased to announce the submission of their inaugural Patient, Family, Caregiver Engagement and Partnership Strategy.
This strategy document is meant to define a common approach for engagement across the region.
Its purpose is to guide the MAOHT in co-design and planning, implementing, and evaluating patient engagement activities across the full
continuum of the health care system.
Designed to ensure that patients and members of the public are able to engage in decisions that affect their lives, the framework is based on active
consultation with the MAOHT Collaboration Steering Committee, Patient, Family Caregiver Engagement Working Group and the MAOHT Patient, Family, Caregiver Partners Advisory Committee.
The Ontario Ministry of Health has asked each Ontario Health Team (OHT) to create a Patient, Family and Caregiver Partnership and Engagement Strategy as a priority activity in their early formation.
The Patient, Family and Caregiver Partnership and Engagement Strategy will set out goals, overarching principles, engagement areas and approaches that will guide the appropriate inclusion of these essential partners in all co-design work of an OHT.
Members of the MAOHT PFACPAC currently include:
Co-Chair Sandra Holdsworth – Gravenhurst
Co-Chair Irene Wright – Huntsville
Beth Grixti – Gravenhurst
James Bowler – Huntsville
Marcia Yale – Huntsville
Evelyn Brown – Bracebridge

The MAOHT PFCPAC is a truly dedicated and involved group that is advising on MAOHT projects, task forces, and working groups, and importantly, The MAOHT Collaboration Steering Committee is composed of the co-chairs of the PFACPAC and they are full voting members.
We are looking forward to the next project for PFCPAC which will be a Patient, Family, Caregiver Declaration of Values. The strategy recognizes the unique engagement needs of Muskoka and Area. Working together, there is no limit to the change that we can effect in our communities and beyond.”
