Showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue today, but should begin to taper off this afternoon.
Environment Canada says this widespread rainfall event is due to a cold front and a moisture-laden low pressure system arriving from the American Mid-west.
In the past 48 hours, some areas have seen over 100 mm of rain.

Rainfall Warnings remain in effect across southern Ontario, but should end before the end of the day.
If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
A chance of showers remains in the forecast until next Tuesday, September 28.
