Ontario’s new vaccine certificate program is the best way to get through the coming months without having to move backward.
That from Premier Doug Ford today who said the Province has for the past few days been holding the line against a dramatic rise in delta variant fuelled COVID-19 cases this fall.
Under the new program, patrons at nightclubs, dine-in restaurants, sports facilities, gyms, and other venues will have to present a receipt of full vaccination or doctors’ notes for medical exemptions that involve allergies to vaccine ingredients or inflammation of the heart.
In October, the Province will launch a QR code and verification app for businesses to streamline the process.
Today Ford reminded that the vaccine certificate program is a temporary and exceptional measure.
“So today and the weeks ahead it’s important that each of us remain patient,” said Ford. “Especially with business owners and front line workers implementing the vaccine certificate. They’ve gone through so much during this pandemic and deserve our support.”
Ford says enforcement of the program will be reasonable with business owners and will rely on individuals doing the right thing.
He adds that the Province is busy fighting the fourth wave and is seeing increases in people getting either their first or second doses of the various vaccines.
