Two new virus-related deaths and 53 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit’s first update from the weekend.
It says two Barrie women between 45 and 64 years old died last week after contracting COVID-19.
Among the new cases are 45 unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals, along with 14 children.
The new cases reported Monday include:

1 Tiny Township
2 Tay Township

5 Bradford WG
8 New Tecumseth

1 Gravenhurst
2 Muskoka Lakes
The health unit also says another 39 local cases have screened positive as the highly contagious Delta variant.
