Several charges have been laid after a Mercedes Benz ended up in the ditch in Tay Township.
The OPP say a passing motorist contacted them on Sunday night, after seeing the vehicle in the ditch near the intersection of Old Fort Road and Elliot Side Road.
When officers arrived and spoke to the driver, they began a drinking and driving investigation, which resulted in the arrest of a 22 year old woman from Midland.
Police say Erica CHYNOWETH is being charged with the following offences-
- Operation while impaired – alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
- Operate unsafe vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Control Act
The accused was released on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on September 30, 2021 and is subject to the 90 day licence suspension and vehicle tow/impound under the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
