Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “,….. proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.

A couple of National Sports organizations made roster announcements in the last week that have an impact on the local sporting community.
Normally at this time of the season we’d be talking about Bluewater Boys Volleyball but the Athletic Association, like many other organizations, is in limbo
Still Volleyball Canada formally announced their Under 21 Men’s roster for the World Championships at Bulgaria which begin later this week.
Among the players on the Canadian roster is Jonny Pickett who played in the Bluewater loop for the Peninsula Shores District Phoenix.
Pickett and Team Canada begin competition on Thursday and will be in a pool with Russia, Brazil and Cameroon.
Similarly, for a second consecutive season there was precious little softball played in the region or across Canada.
Still Softball Canada proceeded with their various programs including the Selection Camp for the Men’s Under 23 team.
The Camp begins September 30th in Saskatoon and Owen Torrie of Williamsford is among the players competing for a spot in the National squad.
Team Canada’s U23 softball team is scheduled to compete at a Pan American continental qualifier in Colombia and if they finish in the top 4 at that competition they’ll earn a berth at the U23 Men’s Softball World Cup in Argentina in November of 2022.
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
