There are now fewer COVID-19 symptoms that would require children to stay home from school or daycare.
The provincial government has removed a runny nose, sore throat, headache, and extreme tiredness or muscle aches from the daily checklist.
The updated online screening tool lists five categories of symptoms “most commonly associated with COVID-19″:
- fever and chills
- cough or barking cough
- shortness of breath
- losing taste or smell
- and nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
Children who do report any of the above symptoms are expected to stay home, isolate and seek COVID-19 testing as soon as possible.
The new guidance also allows the fully vaccinated siblings of children exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms to continue attending classes.
