Insurance companies will be paying out about $75 million for damage caused by a series of tornadoes last month, one of which touched down in Barrie.
The Insurance Bureau of Canada says they’ve had more than 2000 claims from Barrie and Innisfil, as well as Lake of Bays, and the Lindsay area.
The tornadoes rendered 71 houses uninhabitable, most of those in a south Barrie neighborhood.
Several people were hurt but most of the injuries were minor.
The bureau says wind damage is covered by typical home and commercial property policies.
