Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “,….. proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.
Pete’s Auto Body; because we care about our community….
It’s been a busy sequence of days for lacrosse in the region.
The Owen Sound Junior NorthStars won their opening two exhibition games, beating Guelph at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre last Thursday and then defeating Orillia on Saturday at Port McNicoll.
What was equally significant about the opening contest is that it raised more than $1,000 for the Canadian Mental Health Association of Grey Bruce.
Sunday, the Juniors capped a busy stretch of 4 days with 3 tournament games near Cambridge.
In the opener, the Junior Stars blanked Hamilton 6-0 before losing 7-3 to Guelph & 8-1 to Elora.
In two days time, Owen Sound & Elora will meet again, this time at the Lumley-Bayshore.
The Owen Sound lineup on Thursday is expected to be without Hayden Coulter
Coulter is competing at the World Junior Lacrosse Championship for Canada East.
That event is being hosted in Winnipeg and starts on Thursday
Finally, the Major Series Classic resumes tonight in Oakville with undefeated Brooklin meeting the Cobourg Kodiaks.
Tomorrow, the Kodiaks who are currently 1 & 2 will face the Owen Sound Majors who are also 1 & 2 after coming off their first-ever win last week, nipping the Six Nations Chiefs 10-9.
Lacrosse is a rambunctious sport and the pent up anticipation of getting back onto the floor has finally been released for the Owen Sound Juniors and the new Major franchise.
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
