Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “,….. proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.
Pete’s Auto Body; because we care about our community….
We’re doing the Bodog ” Play of the Day ” on 560 CFOS and I want it to be known that I’ve ( almost ) always paid my gambling debts
To that end, a week later, it still stings to relate the Reider Cup finale match at Legacy Ridge Golf Club was won by the team of Tim McKay & Wilbur McArthur.
That twosome was matched against my partner, Paul White, & I for a second consecutive year.
My partner is a power hitter, yet on the 2nd hole he was able to finesse his tee shot on the par 3 to with 12 feet of the hole, while the opponents were parked on the steep grade that looked downhill to the green.
You know what happened…….Whitey & I 3-putted, while the veteran, now retired opponents, who have vastly more time for golf these days than those of us who are still working managed to make par and win the hole.
The rest of the day was a gruelling back and forth affair but by the completion of the 18th hole, McKay & McArthur had won again, this year 5 holes to 4.
Had Whitey & I won we would have received a beautiful custom crafted park bench from Tim and a power washer from Wilbur.
But instead, we have to pay off.
My debt was a confirmation of their victory on CFOS Radio during this segment, which is bad enough, but Whitey has to provide the McKays and McArthurs with free hydro for a year.
Congratulations…….I mean that.
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
