
The Municipality of Kincardine is seeking public input on the election process for Deputy Mayor.
A release notes before the deputy mayor can assume their new role in the 2022 election, a survey has been made available to residents to voice their thoughts on other forms of election.
The current format would see the councillor with the largest number of votes take the position, but other options include a vote at large, selection through council members, a rotational basis, and continuing with the status quo.

When the results of the survey are received, council will be given the opportunity to keep the current process or make a shift.
If a change does need to occur, council must pass a by-law by Jan 1, 2022, if no such by-law is passed however, it will not take effect for the election.
