Orillia OPP have arrested a boat operator after the man was rescued from the waters of Lake Couchiching in Severn Township.
Marine officers were called on Wednesday morning about a man in the water screaming for help and a boat circling nearby.
While the police responded, a good Samaritan managed to get the man to shore and he was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Marine officers located the unmanned vessel and stood by, until it ran out of gas, came to a stop, and was secured.
As a result of the investigation, Martin Reitav, age 27, of Severn Township, has been charged with:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released on a Form 9 Undertaking and is set to appear on July 27, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.
