Collingwood residents are being asked to gather at Sunset Point Park Saturday morning at ten to counter racist and hateful graffitti which was sprayed on playground equipment at the park Friday.
The social media campaign was organized by the community, as word spread of the racist, homophobic and violent words and symbols.
The following statement was released by the town:
TOWN OF COLLINGWOOD REPORTS VANDALISM INCIDENT AT SUNSET POINT

The Town received a report of a vandalism incident at Sunset Point EnviroPark in Collingwood this morning. The incident included several graffiti markings of hate messages throughout the park. The OPP are investigating this incident as a hate crime. Parks and Recreation staff have removed the vandalism and are firmly committed to maintaining public spaces to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the community. Mayor Brian Saunderson and Council condemn this reprehensible and cowardly act and assure residents that the Town is committed to promoting and supporting diversity, inclusion, and equity in Collingwood.
