The jersey barriers in downtown Kincardine are apparently barriers to better business for some merchants.
Kincardine’s BIA spokesperson Rick Clarke didn’t hold back during an address to Kincardine Committee of the Whole on July 5th.
Describing the barriers, he says the cement structures are “unnecessarily ugly and taking away from the beauty of the downtown.
Clarke also says the barriers are “unsightly and make the area look like a construction zone.”
He say merchants with outdoor patios want the barriers removed.
Mayor Gerry Glover says as of now, the barriers will stay for the season and they’ll review the issue next year.
He says the jersey barriers are not there to create additional burdens but to provide safety for pedestrians.
