A special weather statement has been issued by Environment Canada for many parts of southern Ontario today, including Bruce and Grey counties.
The national weather service says showers and thunderstorms will move through the area today and bring heavy downpour. Rainfall amounts between 50 to 75 millimetres are now expected by early this evening.
A rainfall warning is now in place for Grey Bruce.
Environment Canada says the impacted areas will include Owen Sound, Tobermory, Kincardine, Wiarton, Port Elgin, Meaford, Southampton, Sauble Beach, Lion’s Head, Chesley, Chatsworth and Markdale, as well as other parts of the region.
Forecasters warn downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
