The Owen Sound Fire Department was kept busy with several calls on Sunday and early Monday morning, including a fire and a marine rescue.
A fire department official says Owen Sound firefighters were called to assist the Inter-Township Fire Department at around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning for a boat in distress.
Two people became stranded on a vessel near White Cloud and Griffith Islands, after the engine wouldn’t start.
Emergency crews were able to reach them and safely return the two folks to shore at Big Bay.
Meanwhile, just after 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon Owen Sound firefighters were called to a 24th Street West residence after a barbecue caught on fire.
A fire department official says the blaze spread into the deck structure but firefighters were able to get it under control fairly quickly after arriving on scene.
No immediate damage estimate is available.
