Ontario residents in areas identified as Delta Variant Hot Spots, including Simcoe-Muskoka, are eligible to book an accelerated second dose vaccine today.
Anytime after 8 this morning, anyone who received their 1st dose of an mRNA vaccine on or before May 30 will be eligible to book or rebook a 2nd dose appointment at a shortened interval.
Individuals who are eligible to receive an accelerated second dose can book through the provincial booking system, directly through public health units and through participating pharmacies, while select primary care providers will also be reaching out to book appointments.
The government hopes by rapidly expanding second dose coverage in hot spot areas will help to minimize the risk of the variant’s spread throughout the province.
Then next week, accelerated second dose appointments will open up for all Ontarians aged 18 and over.
The government says they will be scheduled at least 28 days after the first dose, per the recommended interval.
