Two patients who shared a room at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Orillia, have tested positive for COVID -19.
As a result, the hospital and the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit have heightened surveillance on the Integrated Medicine and Rehab Services unit.
A news release says the 42-bed unit is now closed to new admissions, transfers and visitors.
All other patients on the unit have tested negative and are quarantining in their rooms.
The hospital has implemented its Outbreak Management Protocol which includes enhanced cleaning, and all staff who have recently worked on the unit are being tested.
