It’s National Blood Donor Week and today is World Blood Donor Day.
This year marks the 13th anniversary since the parliamentary legislation introduced by Senator Terry Mercer was enacted, which recognizes and celebrates volunteer blood donors from across the country who selflessly help their fellow citizens.
Despite the challenges, disruptions and uncertainty caused by the pandemic, blood donors have shown their unwavering support for patients in need with their lifesaving contributions.
Canadian Blood Services says whether you have donated blood, plasma, stem cells, cord blood or financial gifts, it appreciates all donors for keeping Canada’s Lifeline strong.

Today, we’re kicking off National Blood Donor Week with thanks from patients. There are many reasons to donate blood, stem cells and plasma, and just as many to say thank you. #NBDW2021
