During the period of May 27 to June 10, 2021 the West Grey Police Service responded to 203 total calls for service.
Officers responded to 24 traffic complaints/enforcements, 36 police assistance and 17 suspicious persons complaints. Officers prevented Breach of the Peace at two calls and attended at 12 family/domestic disputes. Police provided assistance and de-escalation at 11 Mental Health Act calls.
Criminal Investigations (C.I.B.) and Street Crime Unit (S.C.U.) continue to investigate two Break and Enter occurrences that took place in the former Bentinck and Glenelg Townships, as well as four bail violations.
CIB/SCU and uniformed officers continue to work with O.P.P. after a stolen vehicle was recovered on Garafraxa Street, Durham. Suspects fled the scene on foot. Arrests warrants are being sought.
On May 27, a 31-year-old male from Durham was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property (X2) and Fail to Comply with a release order (X2). Two stolen motorcycles were recovered at scene. The male was held in custody pending a Bail Hearing.
On May 29, members of West Grey Police recovered a stolen vehicle after being stolen the previous night. A 52-year-old female from Durham was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property. A 31-year-old male from West Grey is facing charges of Break and Enter, Theft Over $ 5,000, Mischief and Possession of Stolen Property.
On June 2, a 34-year-old female from Grey Highlands, Ontario was arrested and charged with Mischief when police were called to Bruce Street, Durham regarding a woman throwing bricks at vehicles. The accused was processed and later released. She will appear in Walkerton Court in July.
On June 8, a 72-year-old male from West Grey is charged with Pointing a Firearm and Careless Use of a Firearm after he turned himself into police following an incident on May 30, 2021. The firearms was seized and the accused was processed and later released pending a court date in July.
