A disturbing incident in Barrie involving a pickup truck driver who is believed to have followed two women.
Wednesday at 9:30 pm, Barrie Police responded to a report of a suspicious incident that originated in the downtown and ended in the area of Bradford St. and Vespra Rd.
It involved two women who were walking westbound on Dunlop St. from the area of the Five Points intersection and a man driving what’s described as a black Dodge RAM pickup truck.
The victims report that as they crossed the intersection, they observed the driver of the pickup truck staring at them.
The truck would drive by them slowly, stop ahead and wait for them to pass and repeat this strange sequence of events.
As the women approached the Dunlop St. and High St. construction area, they turned left onto High St. and continued southbound onto Bradford St.
The driver of the pickup then maneuvered around the construction zone and eventually parked in front of the former Prince of Wales School.
It was at this point that he began to shout at the two females (it’s unknown what exactly was said) and at one point opened the door of his truck and got out and began to approach them.
The driver then jumped into his truck as the women ran towards the Tim Horton’s and he was last seen heading westbound on Vespra St.
The suspect is described as:
- male white
- in his 40’s to 50
- average build
- wearing glasses
- clean-shaven
- light brown hair with a buzz cut
- light blue or grey t-shirt.
