Roughly a dozen patios will welcome outdoor diners in Goderich in 2021.
Mayor John Grace says ten to twelve restaurants in Canada’s Prettiest Town will establish outdoor patios this summer.
The only item restaurants are waiting for, Grace says, is for the province to provide a date for when outdoor dining will be permitted.
According to the province’s “Reopening Ontario” plan, outdoor dining for tables of four will be allowed when 60 per cent of residents receive their first COVID-19 vaccine.
Non-essential retail will open at 15 per cent capacity, at the same time.
Up to six people will be allowed at a single outdoor patio table, once 70 per cent of Ontarians receive their first COVID-19 shot.
Grace tells Country 104.9 News the expansion of outdoor patios has improved Goderich’s downtown.
“It’s new, and it’s exciting, and it brings a certain vibrancy to the downtown that we’ve never had before.”
