The provincial government is making a promise to improve air conditioning in long-term care homes.
It says new regulations came into effect May 15th, which requires designated cooling areas of all homes be served by air conditioning and be maintained at a comfortable level.
The government says all 626 long-term care homes in Ontario are in compliance.
It says currently, 60 per cent of homes are fully air conditioned, including in all resident rooms, compared to 42 per cent last summer, while an additional 23 per cent of homes are working toward being fully air conditioned as soon as possible.
The province wants to ensure all long-term care homes have air conditioning by the summer.
