Construction is set to begin on a portion of Mapleview Drive East this summer
The city says the work will reduce traffic to one lane from Madelaine Drive to Yonge Street and drivers should expect significant delays.
It says when complete, this project will increase the traffic capacity, improve the efficiency of both the sanitary and watermain infrastructure, enhance the storm sewer runoff quality and provide community connectivity and improved quality of life with the installation of the multi-use trail.
During construction (between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday to Friday), Mapleview Drive East from Madelaine Drive to Yonge Street will be restricted to one lane. Two lanes will open at night and on weekends. Barrie Transit route 8 will be on detour for the duration of the project.
Utility work is underway now. During the relocations, lane restrictions may occur. The first phase of construction is anticipated to begin in July and last until December. The entire project will take three construction seasons to complete.
