Mayor Luke Charbonneau summed it up nicely at his annual Breakfast with the Mayor event, put on by the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce.
He says, “The year is going gangbusters. Growth is accelerating at a dramatic rate.”
Charbonneau told over 20-people taking part in the virtual event that so far this year, the municipality has issued 156 building permits representing a construction value of 35-million-dollars which is a 105% increase in value over the same period in 2020.
He says when businesses look into the community and see lots of people want to live here, then the businesses want to move here and do business.
The mayor states 58% of Bruce County’s future residential units will be in Saugeen Shores.
Charbonneau says “When you look to the future, the cake is already baked….60% of all the residential units in the county, are (in Saugeen Shores.)”
He reiterates Saugeen Shores is the fastest growing community in Bruce County, “We have been that and we’re going to keep being that.”
