Shopping along the Goderich shoreline will be waiting a year.
Officials with town hall planned to open a series of retail tiki huts near the main beach for the summer of 2021, as part of a pilot project to bring commercial space to the shoreline.
Mayor John Grace says, in the interest of public safety, those plans have been delayed.
“We have to put that stuff on hold, because of the potential congregating,” Grace tells Country 104.9 News.
While officials decided to hold off on the pilot project, Grace says it will still be happening.
“I’m absolutely sure everyone will want to try it again next year. It’s just delayed, and it’s because of the pandemic.”
