The OPP and CP Rail police are beginning a two week education and enforcement blitz in Essa Township to deter people from using railway tracks as a shortcut or walking path.
The land along the rail lines, as well as bridges and structures are all private property and are subject to trespassing laws.
Walking the tracks, or travelling along the right of way on a bicycle, dirt bike or an ATV could have fatal consequences.
Officers from both the OPP and CP rail will be doing extra patrols handing out safety information and if necessary laying charges.
