The Town of Collingwood is accepting applications from Ontario artists for a new public art installation at the Tremont Plaza.
The theme for the artwork will be to celebrate LGBTQ+ life.
The Public Art Working Group will be responsible for selecting the final artwork using a two-stage public art process that requires artists to first provide credentials and examples of relevant achievements.
Then, shortlisted artists will be invited to prepare a detailed proposal of their artwork.
The total project budget is $50,000 funded by a Public Art Reserve established in 2012 by Collingwood Council for the project. This amount includes artist’s fees, materials, fabrication, installation and engineering.
The public will have an opportunity to view shortlisted proposals later in the summer. The Public Art Working Group would like to select the artwork by October with installation taking place in 2022.
The Town is receiving applications from Ontario artists in this first stage until May 17. Details about the application process are available at www.collingwood.ca/publicart.
