Barrie police handed out eight tickets to participants in a rally in the city’s downtown Saturday.
The protesters disagree with provincial public health measures including stay at home orders and mask mandates.
The gatherings have been happening for the last few Saturday afternoons, and organizers say they’ll continue holding them until restrictions are lifted.
Earlier today, the #BarriePolice attended a demonstration at Meridian Place. Despite provincial restrictions, the peaceful crowd began to disperse shortly after 2pm. A total of 8 Provincial Offence Notices were issued to those in attendance including the event organizer. pic.twitter.com/WlfLTcT0ms
