The Province is enacting even stricter measures to curb the spread of the pandemic’s Third Wave.
Today Premier Doug Ford said we are losing the battle between the variants and the vaccines – that the current vaccine supply is not enough.
But the Premier says we can turn it around, starting with the following new measures:
“So effective immediately, we are extending the emergency declaration,” he said, “and prolonging the stay-at-home order province-wide for an additional two weeks, for a total of six weeks.”
Outdoor gatherings are now for single households only – anyone who lives alone can join another household.
All non-essential construction is on hold, but home-building has been deemed ‘essential’.
The Province will reduce capacity limits to 25 per cent in all retail settings where in-store shopping is permitted. This includes supermarkets, grocery stores, convenience stores, indoor farmers’ markets, other stores that primarily sell food and pharmacies.
Come Monday, places of worship will only allow 10 people indoors.
As well starting Monday, checkpoints will be in place at all inter-provincial borders, allowing only essential travel.
The government is also limiting the capacity of weddings, funerals, and religious services, rites or ceremonies to 10 people indoors or outdoors starting Monday, prohibiting social gatherings associated with these services such as receptions, except for with members of the same household or one other person from outside that household who lives alone. Drive-in services will be allowed.
Golf courses and tennis courts will close.
Vaccine supply to hotspots in Ontario will be boosted by 25 per cent.
Premier Ford is calling on the Federal government to tighten up international borders.
He says we need to do more to limit even more deadly variants from entering Canada.
