The Mayor of Barrie is calling on Maxime Bernier to stay away this weekend, and for a group of anti-mask/anti-lockdown protesters to abandon plans for a rally in the downtown area.
Jeff Lehman and the rest of city council have released an open letter, saying the planned protest is dangerous and selfish.
The organizers of the so called “freedom rally” say Bernier — the leader of the right wing People’s Party — will make an appearance at the rally Saturday afternoon.
The Mayor was asked whether anything could be done to block the demonstration.
