The Grey Bruce Health Unit reported 25 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday afternoon in its daily report, saying “We received 48 new cases in the addition to the 25 new cases with hundreds of additional close contacts.”
Of the cases in the daily report, 11 residents of Owen Sound tested positive as well as three in The Blue Mountains, two in Grey Highlands, two in Hanover, two in Meaford, and one each in Arran-Elderslie, Brockton, Huron-Kinloss, South Bruce Peninsula, and West Grey.
With five resolved cases, there are now 111 active cases, including 25 variants.
The Health Unit says there are 498 high-risk contacts associated with the region’s cases.
One person is hospitalized in Grey Bruce due to COVID-19 and three residents are hospitalized outside the region.
Four residents of Grey Bruce have died from COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic, and Public Health is reporting a fifth person has died who passed away outside the area, but contracted the virus in Grey Bruce.

There are no declared outbreaks in long-term care homes, retirement homes or hospitals in Grey Bruce.
The Health Unit says 8352 COVID-19 Vaccines were administered in the past week, for a total of 41,076 doses to date.
