Three more deaths and 89 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the latest update by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.
The latest victims are from Innisfil, Penetanguishene and Wasaga Beach.
The health unit also says another 113 local cases have screened positive as a variant of concern, with almost 500 active variant cases in the region.
SMDHU’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Charles Gardner, said on Tuesday that 96 per cent of the new cases coming to the health unit this week are strains of the virus.
