A third Barrie Transit driver tests positive for COVID-19 in the last few days.
The City of Barrie says it was notified today that another Barrie Transit operator received a positive COVID-19 test result.
It says the bus operator is following public health directions and isolating.
The City is reassuring residents that all buses are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after service each day and receive additional mid-day sanitization to further improve safety measures.
One driver tested positive last Friday, and another the day after. The local health unit says they do not consider this a workplace outbreak.
However, the SMDHU does not consider this to be a workplace outbreak at this time.
“Barrie Transit continues to do everything we can to ensure a safe environment for our riders and employees,” says Brent Forsyth, Director of Transit and Parking Strategy. “We wish the affected driver well and hope they are feeling better soon.”
