Six new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the Grey Bruce Health Unit Monday.
Two residents of South Bruce Peninsula tested positive as well as one in Owen Sound, Southgate, Northern Bruce Peninsula and Grey Highlands.
Six cases have been referred from other health units: 3 South Bruce Peninsula, 2 Southgate, 1 Brockton.
With ten recoveries, there are 68 active cases in the region including 21 variants.
There are 425 high-risk contacts associated with the region’s active cases.
Five people are hospitalized in Grey and Bruce due to COVID-19 and two local people are hospitalized outside of the region.
Over the course of the pandemic, four residents of Grey Bruce have died due to COVID-19.
32,134 total doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Grey and Bruce to date.
The region is receiving about 5850 vaccine doses weekly.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit is working with Bluewater District School Board to address a confirmed case of COVID-19, associated with Beaver Valley Community School in Thornbury, ON.
They say there is no evidence of transmission within the school environment and no bus routes are involved with the case.
The Health Unit says it has identified all others, both in and out of the school environment, who may have been exposed and have determined their risk level. Any cohorts that have been identified as contacts to the case have been excluded from school at this time.
