Tenders are now being accepted for companies to remove the Gorrie Dam.
On top of removing the dam from the Howick Township village, the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority is asking companies to remove berms, perform grading, and restore topsoil at the dam.
Part of the earthen berm to the south of the dam failed in June of 2017, and conservation officials decided dam’s decommissioning was the best path forward.
A public information session on decommissioning the dam was also scheduled in January, but was postponed.
Companies have until April 28th to submit bids to remove the Gorrie Dam
