A new eWaste depot will open in Meaford next week.
Opening as a new six-day electronic waste drop off on April 6, this service was made available through a new partnership with the Municipality of Meaford and local business, Meaford Recycling.
Located at 146024 Grey Rd 12, Meaford residents will be able to drop off their eWaste items at this facility Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. for free, with it being closed on stat holidays.
Residents are requested to use the designated bins, and to not drop off their items after hours.
Director of Infrastructure Services with the Municipality of Meaford Tori Perejmybida said “we are so pleased to be able to enhance this service for our residents, and hopefully divert even more electronic waste from going to the landfill.”
The facility is accepting most eWaste items including printer cartridges and cellphones.
The facility is not accepting these eWaste items:
-Mercury switches and thermostats
-Smoke detectors
-Water coolers
-Dehumidifiers, air conditioners or freon products
-Bio & Hazardous Waste/Sharps
-Liquids and Chemical Waste
-Household Hazardous Waste
