Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.

It’s that time of the year when golfers in our region are ready to roll.
Scenic City Golf Course on Highway 26 officially opened about 10 days ago while many other courses in the area are waiting for a little warmer weather before they line up the tee blocks.
There was an interesting golf note last week.
After a 1 year hiatus due to COVID-19, the 29th annual Crime Stoppers of Grey-Bruce Golf Tournament announced their return to the circuit.
Normally staged in early June, the 2021 version will be conducted on September 16th at Saugeen Golf Club which has been the site for the event for the past few years.
The hope is that come September, COVID will be in rearview mirror and restrictions will be modified, if not lifted.
Naturally, from an organizing standpoint there are a number of alterations that will be in effect, most notably, a reduced level of celebrity guests.
Through the almost 3 decades of the tournament, the celebrities have been on hand to meet & greet, shake hands, take pictures and add some lustre to the event. COVID-19 has altered that concept for the time being, maybe forever.
Still the primary function of the tournament is to raise both awareness and funds for the Crime Stoppers program in Grey Bruce.
Through the years in excess of $ 500,000 has been generated and the hope for September 16th at Saugeen Golf Club is for good weather and good fortunes.
For Pete’s Auto Body I’m Fred Wallace
