For the second year in a row, organizers have had to pull the plug on Barrie’s Kempenfest.
The popular event on Barrie’s waterfront is usually held during the August long weekend.
Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman says it’s a disappointment, but he understands organizers had to make the call because of the amount of planning and up-front commitments required, without knowing whether large gatherings would be permitted during the first week of August.
Organizers are hoping the festival’s 50th anniversary will finally be celebrated in the summer of 2022.
