Premier Doug Ford has confirmed that restaurant workers will in fact be included in Phase 2 of the province’s COVID-19 rollout.
Ford said on Tuesday, “restaurant workers are going to be in phase two” and he’s looking into whether taxi drivers will also be included.
There have been questions surrounding where members of the food and beverage industry stood in Ontario’s vaccine distribution plan, and a Collingwood restaurant owner launched a petition to make sure her workers were not forgotten, especially due to their close contacts with the public.
Phase 2 is expected to begin in April, with vaccinations for essential workers who cannot work from home starting in June.
