The City of Barrie is recognizing Transit Driver Appreciation Day today by saying thank you to the many drivers who show up each day, even amid a pandemic, to get people to where they need to be.
In addition to saying thank you in-person, Barrie Transit riders can share their appreciation on social media using the hashtags #TransitDriverAppreciationDay, #TDAD or #BarrieTransit.
“For many people in our city, Barrie Transit operators are the first person they see in the morning and the last person at night,” said Brent Forsyth, Director of Transit and Parking Strategy. “Our operators play a vital role in ensuring the safe pick-up and drop-off of thousands of passengers every day. When riding the bus on March 18, we encourage you to say an extra ‘thank you’ to your driver.”
Barrie Transit service operates under a contract with MVT Canadian Bus Inc. The company employs more than 100 drivers to operate Barrie Transit’s fleet of 46 conventional buses and 16 specialized buses.
