Fraud cases continue to surface in Huron County.
OPP say four residents in the past week have reported sharing bank account details with organizations claiming to provide home warranty services, or carbon tax refunds.
According to reports, the victims shared bank account details over the phone in order to collect the supposed refund.
Police say the victims later informed their banks of the situation, and the accounts were frozen and placed under review.
The news follows reports two Huron County seniors were each defrauded of $4 thousand in cash, after claiming loved ones calls requesting money following a car accident in Montreal.
“If you are contacted by an organization offering a tax refund of any kind, do not provide any personal information over the phone or online. Simply hang up the phone or delete the message. If you have any doubt a quick online search of the business/organization through the Better Business Bureau of Canada www.bbb.org or a basic online search will likely confirm your suspicions that it is a scam.”
