“Be kind to yourself and others.”
That’s the message from our region’s medical officer of health.
Dr. Charles Gardner says while COVID-19 variants are a concern, the pandemic is also affecting people’s mental health.
He says, “I think it’s important that we do our best to be kind to each other. You know, this has been hard on us and it can certainly be hard on our feeling about things and about each other and certainly I recognize that.”
During his update on Facebook today, Gardner said “I’m well aware of and regret the harm that is caused when we have to go in to tighter restrictions. We do so in order to prevent transmission and mortality from this virus, but I’m aware that it causes other negative impacts on health and well-being. ”
Gardner says he also remains optimistic about the summer, if we stay on the right path.
He says, “I’m hopeful for the summer, I don’t know for sure what it will be like, but if we’re very fortunate, and area able to immunize well and keep the variants under control we stand a reasonable chance at having a good summer.”
