April-like weather has arrived in Ontario this week, but that doesn’t signal the official end to winter.
The weather network says a ridge of high pressure is helping to bring a sneak peek of spring to southern Ontario this week, and there is a chance the next couple of days could be the warmest stretch the province has seen in several months.
The normal high for this time of year is plus 1 or 2 degrees Celsius.
However, forecasters say you should enjoy it while you can because winter isn’t over, and seasonal temperatures will return for the weekend.
There will also be some unsettled weather ahead of the temperature drop, with a low-pressure system expected to bring rain late Wednesday night into Thursday.
The forthcoming rain and rising temperatures also brings the risk of flooding.
Mother Nature is expected to bring double-digit temps by mid-week and local conservation authorities are advising residents to stay away from local waterways, which may become dangerous due to the thaw.
