A surge of provincial funding is coming to municipalities across Huron and Bruce counties, to address costs related to COVID-19.
The funding is being prioritized to help municipalities hardest hit by the pandemic and can be used for things like personal protective equipment, cleaning supplies and by-law enforcement.
While the County of Huron is receiving the biggest portion at nearly $368 thousand, Bluewater is being allocated the largest fund of municipalities in the county, with over $99 thousand.
That is followed by Central Huron and Huron East, each receiving over $77 thousand.
This provincial investment builds on the $1.39 billion in operating funding that was provided to municipal partners through the joint federal-provincial Safe Restart Agreement.
The second phase of the Safe Restart Agreement was allocated to all Ontario municipalities in December
The funding announced includes:
- Bluewater $99,312
- Central Huron $77,633
- Huron-East $77,235
- Goderich $ 66,656
- Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh – $56,916
- North Huron $41,669
- Howick $28,527
- Morris-Turnberry $26,291
- Huron County $367,943
