It’s Pothole season and the town of Gravenhurst is warning local motorists to be careful when driving through puddles because they can often hide potholes.
There are several causes of pothole formation, specific to winter.
The town says water can freeze within the cracks and then forcefully push out the asphalt.
Then, after milder weather arrives, the frozen water inside the pavement will melt, leaving a pothole in the empty space left behind.
Crews have already begun their pothole patching program, so if you become aware of an area that requires attention, you can report it on the town’s website by clicking here or call 705-687-3412 Ext. 256 to leave a message.
