A bizarre parking job in Barrie has led to the arrest of a suspended driver.
An officer was on patrol in the city’s east end on Monday afternoon, when he saw a pick-up truck abruptly stop on the side of Hopkins Road and a man start to walk away from the vehicle.
The officer determined the man was driving under suspension and when they returned to the vehicle to get his license, a quantity of suspected cocaine and heroin was located, along with a large amount of cash.
A 27-year old Barrie resident is now facing the following charges:
– Drive While Suspended Section 53(1) HTA
– Possession of Schedule I Substance Section 4(1) CDSA-(Heroin)
– Possession of Schedule I Substance Section 4(1) CDSA-(Cocaine)
– Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Section 5(2) CDSA-(Cocaine).
The driver was later released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on Monday, March 29, 2021.
