A 34-year-old Brockton man has been charged with assault with a weapon and extortion after an altercation in Hanover.
Hanover Police say they responded to reports of an assault in the 300 block of 10th Street around 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 15.
Police say the investigation determined that a dispute occurred inside an apartment earlier that day between two males known to each other.
According to police, a 39-year-old man from West Grey was violently assaulted with “weapons”, punched and threatened with further violence if he refused to turn over a sum of money.
Town Police arrested a 34-year-old Brockton man shortly after 10 p.m. on Feb. 18. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
Hanover Police say Joey Durocher faces numerous charges, including two counts of assault with a weapon, assault, extortion, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
